  1. Ian Lamb says:

Great time to read this book if you can get hold of it. The Bell Rock lighthouse 12 miles off Arbroath on the east coast of Scotland is reckoned to be one of the seven industrial wonders of the world. At high tide, its base is covered by almost 5 metres of water and the treachorous reef it marks, which is in direct line of ships navigating towards the Forth and Tay estuaries, is only uncovered for a few hours at low tide. Google “Ralph The Rover” for the legend behind this light. The Bell Rock celebrates its bicentenary of first being lit on 1st February 2011. A special Bell Rock Group has been set up in conjunction with Angus Council to organise a year of celebrations to mark this important anniversary and if you visit Bellrock.org.uk, a great site by David Taylor, it will give you all the background of both the lighthouse and the celebrations being planned.
